James Honan, Ed.D.
Dr. James P. Honan is Senior Lecturer in Education and formerly Associate Director of Programs in Professional Education in the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University, where he has developed executive leadership programs for higher education administrators, school system superintendents, and independent school heads.
Dr. Honan was previously institutional research coordinator in the Office of Budgets at Harvard, and has served as director of institutional research and planning as well as executive assistant to the president at Lesley University.
Dr. Honan has spoken, consulted and published in the areas of strategic planning, employing data for effective resource allocation, faculty development, and the process of becoming a skilled discussion leader. Dr. Honan has served on the boards of over a dozen educational institutions, including the Board of Trustees at his undergraduate alma mater, Marist College. He has been Education Chair of the Harvard/NAIS Management Institute for independent school leaders, and has consulted with the Boards and leadership teams of nearly 100 schools, colleges and universities on their strategic planning.
Dr. Honan received his bachelor’s degree from Marist College, master’s degrees from Harvard and George Washington Universities, and a Doctor of Education from Harvard.
