Brad Rathgeber is Head of School and CEO for One Schoolhouse, a non-profit, fully online independent school that he helped found in 2009. In the decade that he has served first as Board President and then as Head of School, Mr. Rathgeber has developed “an independent school approach to online learning” – one that is mission-driven and high touch. By using the power of online education to focus on each student as a distinctive learner, Mr. Rathgeber has overseen an expansion of enrollment at One Schoolhouse from fifty semester student enrollments coming from four schools, to 1500 semester student enrollments coming from more than 200 schools.
A former director of technology at the Holton-Arms School, Mr. Rathgeber continues to advocate for online professional development opportunities for independent school educators, opportunities that bring best practices to teachers and administrators in a time-flexible learning environment.
Mr. Rathgeber’s previous career includes service as a teacher of history and art history, as well as having been assistant director for capital gifts in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Carolina. He is a proud graduate of The Hotchkiss School, has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, and a master’s from Dartmouth College.
