Position Summary
The Product Manager or Senior Product Manager plays an essential role in shaping the next generation of data and insight products for the new, merged ERB–EMA organization. This is not just a maintenance role — it’s an opportunity to help define how a combined organization can transform student journeys by turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. You’ll get to apply your creativity to emerging technologies, innovative design, and human-centered solutions that bring real value to school administrators, specialists, teachers, and families.
Product Managers and Senior Product Managers at the merged ERB-EMA organization envision product solutions, create prototype designs, and work with development teams to specify requirements. They keep new feature requests organized and well-defined in product roadmaps. They coordinate product release schedules, conduct user acceptance testing, and communicate details so that product releases are error-free and team members are well-informed. They collaborate with marketing, sales, and communication experts to convey the value of investments in ERB products.
Major Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery projects and/or lead discovery activities to clarify customer needs, define user journeys, and envision solutions in collaboration with other ERB staff members. Work with user experience designers to create wireframes, obtain customer feedback on design concepts, and iterate on version updates, obtaining CPO feedback as needed.
  • Work with product and software development teams to define requirements and business rules for new features; become an expert in ERB’s digital products so that new products and features comport with existing ERB systems and programming.
  • Collaborate across the newly combined ERB–EMA teams to identify opportunities for innovation that leverage our expanded datasets, wider reach, and deep relationships with member schools.
  • Gather input from team members to prioritize tickets, including story points for cost analysis and market feedback for prioritization.  Make recommendations that support executive-level decision-making on product plans for future development sprints.
  • Conduct competitor analyses to ensure ERB programming evolves continuously. Stay up to date on industry advancements and incorporate cutting edge technologies into ERB solutions.
  • Keep the high-priority tickets from product backlogs up to date with the design sketches, requirements, business rules, member-facing text, etc. needed to conduct development work.
  • Keep team members apprised of when new features are launching and provide the information they need to explain to end users how these features work. Organize the product roadmap and ensure it is accessible to staff.
  • Coordinate product releases with internal teams; ensure that any necessary service interruptions are communicated to internal staff and customers in advance of outages.
  • Lead and conduct user acceptance testing prior to software releases and orchestrate the set of steps needed to sign-off on releases. Identify bugs based on external feedback or internal testing; write tickets defining issues; incorporate high priority bug fixes into development roadmaps. Be accountable for the overall functionality, performance, and quality of released products.
  • Create documentation such as product implementation guides, slides, and/or FAQs to support internal training and external communications.
  • Conduct product demos and training for internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to support go-to-market efforts and communications. Ensure that ERB primes customers about upcoming features before new features launch.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop strategies for promoting ERB solutions to new and existing customers.
  • Help craft product narratives that showcase how our tools improve student outcomes, enhance school decision-making, and create measurable impact for families.
  • Advise the CPO on resources needed to achieve product plans, recommending development team changes as needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and track key product usage metrics. Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation of product performance, recommendations, and enhancements.
  • Provide project management expertise as needed for complex, time-sensitive, and/or otherwise critical initiatives.
Ideal Experience
The Product Manager or Senior Product Manager should have passion for our expanded mission—combining ERB and EMA’s capabilities to transform how schools serve students—a creative spirit and strong collaboration and communication skills. They should be open to feedback in the service of helping ERB develop creative solutions to market problems and customer needs. The candidate should also ideally have the following skills and experience:
  • Ethical conduct in all things
  • A bachelor’s degree; certificates in agile, scrum, and related disciplines a plus
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in product management 5-7 years of experience in product management for a more senior title. Experience in ed tech and/or analytic reporting a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with superb attention to detail
  • Experience in product development ideation processes, innovation engineering, and related methods
  • Demonstrated expertise in consolidating product requirements from diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of and experience using agile product development principles
  • Knowledge of and experience using systems for issue and project tracking tasks such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines while simultaneously maintaining courtesy and professionalism
  • Flexibility and strong commitment to getting the job done right
  • Ability to communicate openly with co-workers and business contacts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A drive to continuously learn and grow in a high-energy environment where big ideas and bold thinking are encouraged.
