Announcing Educational Services: New Professional Development Events and Resources

As a member-driven organization, we’re committed to providing professional development services to better meet our members’ needs and support them in their use of ERB’s products and services. That’s why we’re excited to announce our new Educational Services division!

Through in-person events, webinars, and a team of specialists, Ed Services helps educators maximize their use and understanding of our suite of tools, connect their learning with data-driven insights to inform their decision-making, and share in a community of like-minded educators. 

With services ranging from self-help tools and online learning to member events and professional development, we have something for everyone in your school community:

  • Virtual Office Hours: Monthly webinars on a variety of topics, from product how-to’s and ERB’s latest research, to interviews with subject matter experts and onboarding opportunities for new members
  • Member Resource Library: Self-help videos for our member schools to get they what you need, when they need it
  • ERB Connections: Our regional and national conference series, with regionals being held in Pasadena, Houston, Atlanta, and Philadelphia in the 2023-24 school year
  • Professional Development and Training: Zoom-based and on-site options for every need and budget

Introducing Our New Team of Professional Development Specialists

Our Educational Services team is made up of career educators with a deep understanding of and interest in leveraging data to inform curriculum and instruction. With over 150 years of combined experience in the classroom, at the administrative level, and leading professional development, our Educational Services team is ready to support your community in all of your professional development needs. 

Kelly Bornmann | Senior Director, Educational Services at ERB

Kelly brings 30 years of teaching, educational leadership, curriculum design, and professional development expertise to her role as Senior Director of Educational Services. Her passion for being “in service of the learner” drives her commitment to developing professional learning tools and experiences

Shannon Helgeson | Professional Development Specialist

Shannon Helgeson is a growth-focused coach and leader who supports professionals in becoming facilitators in their schools and communities. She has a deep understanding of making data the foundation of academic conversations, and knows that data are more than a collection of numbers; they are a tool to tell a story. With an emphasis on collaboration and engagement, she moves teams from “going through the motions” to collective buy-in and advocacy.

Jennifer McPartland | Professional Development Specialist

Jen McPartland is a retired Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and holds degrees and certifications as a principal, director, supervisor, reading specialist, and elementary school teacher. She has spent her career coaching administrators, instructional coaches, and teachers to develop sound pedagogical approaches. She has also trained school leaders to use data to engage in powerful discussions about enhancing curriculum and instruction through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

Rabia Nawaz | Professional Development Specialist

Rabia Nawaz is passionate about education and has a gamut of experience, including teaching, curriculum writing, academic research, and professional development. Throughout her career, Rabia has presented at various conferences and emphasizes that a well-rounded education extends beyond academic success. Rabia is a strong proponent of data and believes that when presented in a constructive and non-judgmental manner, data can be a powerful tool to improve education.

Scott Oswald | Professional Development Specialist

Dr. Scott Oswald has over 32 years of experience in education as a teacher, principal, and superintendent. He currently teaches at both Rowan University and Stockton University in southern New Jersey and works with several other education-related organizations in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is passionate about working with teachers, school leaders, and Boards of Education to better understand issues of equity in districts, schools, and classrooms. He believes deeply that behind every data point is a child and behind every child is a story.

Announcing ERB’s New Regional Conference Series

Theme: Connections: Impacting the Learning Landscape Through Data and Insight 

We’re excited to have launched our new ERB Connections Regional Conference Series! The four events of the 2023-24 school year are designed for educators and admission staff who want to explore best practices in using data-driven insights to inform their decision-making. They are open to both ERB members as well as non-members.

These in-person conferences promise attendees the opportunity to learn, connect, and share over the course of a dynamic and thought-provoking day. The first conference was held in Pasadena on Friday, October 6, 2023.
